May 20, 2006 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that he and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev have concluded "major agreements" on military cooperation between their two countries.
Putin's remarks came after the two met today in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi. Putin said the deals include Russian armament sales to Kazakhstan. Another agreement covers military technical cooperation.
Putin said they also reached agreement on cooperation in the energy sector, particularly over the issue of energy prices.
It's the fourth time Nazarbaev and Putin have met this year. In Moscow last month, they agreed to more than double the capacity of a pipeline transporting crude oil from Kazakhstan to Russia.
