Bush And Blair Recommit To Troop Presence In Iraq

British Prime Minister Tony Blair held a joint news conference with U.S. President George W. Bush today (epa) May 26, 2006 -- President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair have vowed to keep their forces in Iraq until the new Iraqi government is capable of taking over security duties.
Speaking at a joint news conference with Blair in Washington last evening, Bush said that despite what he called setbacks and missteps in Iraq, he believed the United States and Britain had done the right thing by invading in March 2003.

Blair, who recently visited Iraq, said it was the duty of the international community to support the new Iraqi government.
