May 31, 2006 -- Kyrgyz composer and conductor Kalyi Moldobasanov, who co-composed Kyrgyzstan's national anthem in 1992, was buried today in the capital, Bishkek.
Moldobasanov died in late May after a long illness. He was 76.
Moldobasanov was considered Kyrgyzstan's leading musical figure. He was the author of several ballets, cantatas, symphonic and chamber music compositions, and movie soundtracks, as well as arrangements for orchestras of Kyrgyz national instruments.
