June 9, 2006 -- Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev today pledged to continue fighting corruption among government officials.
Addressing an international business forum in Astana, Nazarbaev said more than 60 civil servants have been sacked on corruption charges in recent months.
Earlier this month, the chairman of the National Security Committee, Amangeldy Shabdarbaev, said the state had lost some $125 million as a result of corruption in the past year and a half.
