June 20, 2006 -- A suicide bomber today attacked a senior citizens home in the southern Iraqi city of Al-Basrah, killing two elderly women and wounding three other people.
Al-Basrah was placed under a state of emergency last month by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, but violence between gangs and feuding Shi'ite factions persists.
In Baghdad, a bomb explosion in a market killed two people and wounded at least 16, and two police officers were reported killed in separate attacks in the capital.
