Russia To Boost Spending On Nuclear Safety

Sergei Kiriyenko, head of Rosatom (file photo) (ITAR-TASS) June 27, 2006 -- The head of Rosatom, Russia's Atomic Energy Agency, today announced a tenfold increase in spending on nuclear safety next year.

Sergei Kiriyenko said the increase, to 3 billion rubles ($111 million) in 2007, was less than needed and called for further investment in the country's nuclear energy industry.
