August 22, 2006 -- Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accepted an invitation from President George W. Bush to visit the United States.
A date for the visit was not announced.
Karzai's office says Bush made the offer in a telephone call that focused on the fight against terrorism and rebuilding Afghanistan.
Karzai's office said Bush assured the Afghan leader of Washington's "continued and long-term" support.
