September 21, 2006 -- Major world powers have affirmed that they want to see a negotiated solution on the future status of Kosovo by the end of this year.
In a statement issued after talks on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, foreign ministers of the six-nation Contact Group called on Serbia's government to halt "obstruction" of the process.
The Contact Group, formed to oversee Balkans diplomacy, includes Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, and the United States.
