October 17, 2006 -- The Our Ukraine bloc's parliamentary faction has officially announced that it is joining the opposition, and its ministers are leaving the government.
Our Ukraine had five ministers in the cabinet.
The leader of the faction, Roman Bezsmertnyy, announced the decision at a session of parliament, the Verkhovna Rada.
Bezsmertnyy called on opposition forces to form an alliance to work out an action plan aimed at creating an alternative to the current government.
Our Ukraine, a driving force behind the Orange Revolution, disagrees with the foreign, domestic, and economic policies pursued by the government, which is led by the pro-Moscow politician Viktor Yanukovych.
