Kazakh Conscript Dies After Clash With Fellow Border Guards

(RFE/RL) November 27, 2006 -- News reports from southern Kazakhstan say a border guard has died of injuries sustained during recent clashes among fellow soldiers.

The conscript died on November 26, four days after being hospitalized in a coma.


The fighting broke out on November 22, pitting troops garrisoned in the Sariaghash administrative district against a group of conscripts sent to reinforce the Kazakh-Uzbek border.
