December 30, 2006 -- Bomb attacks killed more than 50 people in Iraq today following the execution of former President Saddam Hussein.
Iraqi officials say that a car bomb exploded in a market in Kufa, about 160 kilometers south of Baghdad, killing at least 30 people. Scores of people were wounded in the blast.
Kufa is one of the holiest cities in Iraq for Shi'ites.
In a second attack, three car bombs reportedly killed 25 people and wounded 65 more in Al-Hurriyah, a mixed neighborhood in northern Baghdad.
