Caspian Littoral Delegates Gather In Iranian Capital

Oil derricks on the Caspian shore outside Baku (file photo) (Bymedia.net) February 27, 2007 -- Deputy foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, and Turkmenistan are scheduled to meet in Tehran today to discuss the status of the Caspian Sea.

Regional cooperation is also expected to come up in the course of the two-day talks.


The five littoral states have not legally demarcated the seabed of the Caspian, which is believed to contain the third-largest oil and gas reserves in the world.
