Russia Says Parts Of Kosovo Resolution 'Unacceptable'

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin (ITAR-TASS) May 12, 2007 -- Russia says it cannot accept elements of a draft UN resolution on Kosovo proposed by the United States and EU countries.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin today said it was "obvious" the draft resolution contained elements that could not be accepted by Russia, a Serbia ally.

He said talks must continue to help reach a compromise between the Serbs and Kosovo's ethnic Albanians.

The Western draft resolution presented to UN Security Council members on May 11 endorses a plan for the "supervized independence" of Serbia's UN-administered province.
