May 25, 2007 -- A summit of 15 presidents from Central and Eastern European countries is under way in the southeastern Czech city of Brno.
The summit is to discuss issues including a planned U.S. missile-defense system, and the future status of Kosovo.
The annual summit began with a dinner on May 24. Talks are scheduled for today and May 26.
The presidents of Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia, and Slovakia, are present.
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has cancelled his participation because the current political crisis in Ukraine.
