U.S. Repeats Charges On Iranian Weapons For Taliban

June 13, 2007 -- A senior U.S. diplomat says the United States has "irrefutable" evidence that Iran is transferring weapons to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns said that NATO had intercepted some of the alleged weapons shipments, which he said were coming from Iran's Revolutionary Guard. Burns' accusations, first voiced on June 12 in Paris, were the most direct comments yet on the issue by a ranking U.S. official.
