June 17, 2007 -- The U.S. military says its troops killed 10 militants and detained nearly a dozen more in a series of operations targeting Al-Qaeda networks across Iraq today.
Meanwhile, a daytime curfew was lifted in Baghdad and the southern city of Al-Basrah today.
The curfew was imposed following a June 13 attack by suspected Al-Qaeda militants against the Golden Mosque -- a major Shi'ite shrine in the city of Samarra.
A previous bombing in February 2006 destroyed the dome of the mosque, triggering nationwide sectarian violence between Shi'a and Sunnis that continues to this day.
