Turkmen President Pledges To Expand Ties With U.S.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov (file photo) (AFP) June 21, 2007 -- Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov has said he is willing to expand his relations with the United States and with U.S. businesses.

He was speaking on June 20 at a meeting with the commander of the U.S. Central Command, Admiral William Fallon, in Ashgabat.


Berdymukhammedov said he will continue to cooperate with efforts to stabilize neighboring Afghanistan.


He also said he would like to build a natural-gas pipeline across the Caspian Sea.
