Kyrgyz Teachers Demand Pay Raise

Some 500 secondary school teachers protested outside the governor's office in Kyrgyzstan's northern Talas Oblast on December 14 to demand a salary increase. The action was the latest in a number of protests and strikes across Kyrgyzstan by discontented teachers demanding higher pay.
