DNIPROPETROVSK, Ukraine -- A man has been killed in an explosion in Ukraine's eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.
RFE/RL's correspondent in Dnipropetrovsk quoted police as saying a car stopped on November 15 near a central supermarket after one of the passengers felt sick.
They said the ill passenger left the car to buy a bottle of water at a kiosk. After drinking the water he threw the empty bottle into a trash can, whereupon an improvised explosive device in the trash exploded and killed him instantly.
Local police are investigating the incident, which they classified as a terrorist act.
Dnipropetrovsk, which sits on the Dnieper River, is Ukraine's third-largest city, with some 1.86 million residents.
