Azerbaijan's National Security Ministry has announced its detention of eight people who were allegedly planning to carry out attacks on a school and a kindergarten in the capital, Baku.
The ministry said the five men and three women were taken into custody on March 16.
One of the men is a resident of Russia's restive Chechen Republic, while the others were all Azerbaijani citizens.
The ministry said the group had illegally crossed into Azerbaijan from Georgia and had concealed weapons, ammunition, and explosives in the roof of a kindergarten and a school.
