The European Union mission in Kosovo says counterterrorism police have arrested a terror suspect wanted for extradition to the United States.
The EULEX mission said in a statement that a Kosovo Albanian male was detained in the Mitrovica region "acting on EULEX orders."
It added that the arrest came following a request for extradition made by the United States.
The statement did not identify the suspect, who it said is charged by U.S. authorities with having supported a planned terrorist attack in North Carolina.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Raleigh, North Carolina, later identified the suspect as 29-year-old Bajram Asllani.
U.S. authorities say Asllani is charged with providing material support to terrorists and conspiring to murder, kidnap, maim, and injure people abroad.
