A Russian court today sentenced nine people to jail terms of up to 23 years for their roles in ethnically motivated murder and other attacks.
Earlier this month, a Moscow City Court jury convicted the nine, said to be members of a neo-Nazi group, of involvement in six ethnically motivated attacks, including at least one murder.
Russian ultranationalists often target migrant workers from Central Asia and the Caucasus, as well as African and Asian students.
According to the Russian rights group SOVA, at least 60 people were killed and more than 300 were injured in hate attacks in Russia last year.
