Russian opposition politicians and Kremlin critics Garry Kasparov and Boris Nemtsov have founded a new political party named Solidarity.
Russian media reported that more than 300 opposition politicians, including members of the liberal Yabloko party, took part in the December 13 conference near Moscow.
The organization aims to unite the country's liberal forces. With a parliament now dominated by pro-Kremlin parties, Russia's liberals have found themselves marginalized.
Outside the conference, members of the pro-Kremlin youth group Young Russia held a demonstration against the new party.
