U.S. Missile Strike Kills 13 In Northwest Pakistan

Government officials say six missiles fired into Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border today by suspected U.S. drone aircraft killed at least 13 people.

The strikes took place in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, a hotbed of Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants.

Unnamed government officials said some of those killed were "foreigners," a term often used to refer to militants linked with Al-Qaeda of Arab or Central Asian origin.

The drone attack targeted a compound used by Taliban as a training center, located next to the Afghan border.

A similar drone strike killed three people and injured two more on June 10 in North Waziristan.
