A senior prosecutor in Afghanistan has been assasinated outside his home in the capital, Kabul.
Najibullah Sultanzoi was shot dead by an unidentified gunman when he answered a knock at the door of his home in the evening on May 14.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the killing.
Sultanzoi was the chief prosecutor in Paktia Province, which borders Pakistan.
Commentators say attacks on judicial officials have spiked recently.
This month, buses transporting employees of the attorney general's office to and from work were attacked three times.
Meanwhile, officials said a suspected U.S. drone strike on a car in eastern Nangarhar Province killed five militants and wounded one in the evening on May 14.
There was no comment from U.S. officials.
