Afghan officials say an overnight clash between NATO forces and Afghan police in the country's south has left at least two Afghan officers dead.
Kandahar's provincial police chief Abdul Raziq said the victims were members of the Afghan Local Police, an anti-Taliban initiative in which locals are recruited to protect their own villages.
The official said NATO troops mistook the officers for insurgents.
The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said it is investigating the incident.
