Hollywood film star Angelina Jolie says she is "very disheartened" by the U.S. response to the global migration crisis.

Jolie, who serves as a special envoy for the United Nations refugee agency, said on May 16 in London that she also fears other countries will adopt increasingly isolationist policies instead of acting together to address the challenges posed by the migration crisis.

Jolie said concerns about uncontrolled immigration have given a "false air of legitimacy to those who promote politics of fear and separation."
