The U.S.-led coalition attacking the Islamic State (IS) group in Syria and Iraq says it has conducted 15 air strikes against the militants.
The Combined Joint Task force said in a statement on September 7 that its 11 attacks in Iraq the previous day occurred throughout the country, and destroyed tactical units, vehicles, and weapons.
It said an air strike near Tuz destroyed dozens of IS positions, four tunnels, and a weapons cache.
The coalition's four attacks in Syria were concentrated near the IS stronghold of Raqqa, Mara, and Tamakh.
Meanwhile, Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid al-Obaidi escaped an attack on his convoy 190 kilometers north of Baghdad on September 7.
Obaidi was in Baiji, where Iraq's largest oil refinery is located, at the time of the attack.
Iraqi forces hope to secure the area around Baiji -- which has been occupied by IS forces -- in order to move closer to the IS-controlled city of Mosul.
