At least seven people have been killed in separate attacks in northern Iraq.

Police say a roadside bomb targeting an Iraqi army patrol killed two soldiers and wounded two others in the city of Kirkuk.

Also in Kirkuk, an off-duty police officer and his brother were killed when gunmen stormed his house.

In the city of Mosul, two police officers were killed and eight others wounded by two roadside bombs.

Also in Mosul, attackers opened fire at a police checkpoint, killing one police officer.

This violence, on May 21, comes two days after three bombings against police in the provincial capital of Kirkuk killed 29 people -- mostly police -- and wounded 90 others.

Kirkuk lies at the center of a tract of disputed territory claimed by both Iraq's central government and by Kurdish regional authorities.
