The daughter of an imprisoned Bahraini rights activist has been jailed for two months for tearing up a picture of the Gulf Arab state's monarch.
Bahrain has been in turmoil since pro-democracy protests led by its Shi'ite Muslim majority erupted last year and were put down by the Sunni leaders.
Zainab al-Khawaja was arrested at a protest in August.
Her father, prominent Shi'ite activist Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, is among several opposition figures sentenced to long prison terms over the protests.
He staged a 110-day hunger strike earlier this year in protest against his imprisonment.
Khawaja's lawyer says she faces eight more charges for participating in protests.
He called the prison sentence harsh, saying the usual punishment for such offenses was a fine.
