Thousands of protesters are gathering in Bahrain's capital, Manama, after two days of antigovernment demonstations left two people dead.
Many of those turning out today are attending the funeral of the second victim, who was killed at the funeral of the first.
Authorities say police officers allegedly involved in the deaths have been arrested.
Thousands of people were reported to have spent the night on the main square in Manama.
Protesters have several demands, including the release of political prisoners, a new cabinet without the current prime minister, more jobs and housing, and an end to discrimination against Shi'ite Muslims by the ruling Sunni Muslim minority.
Bahrain is home to the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
In Washington, State Department spokesman Philip Crowley called for all parties in Bahrain to show restraint.

Meantime in Yemen, antigovernment protesters and supporters of President Ali Abdullah Saleh have clashed for a fourth day in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.
The protesters had gathered at Sanaa University and planned to march toward the city center but were attacked by supporters of the regime armed with batons, stones, and knives.
Police fired warning shots but were unable to keep the two sides apart. At least four people were reported wounded.
