WARSAW -- The Belarusian opposition website Charter97.org has announced that it has opened new headquarters in the Polish capital, Warsaw.
The website had been temporarily based in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, after its chief editor, Natallya Radzina, received political asylum there after being charged by Belarusian authorities with participating in the mass protests against the 2010 reelection of President Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
Radzina told RFE/RL the new Warsaw office would now be the website's headquarters, while the Lithuania branch would operate as a bureau.
Radzina said she and her team were hopeful they may eventually be able to return to work in Belarus.
