Britain has completed its withdrawal of troops from Iraq, ending its presence in the Middle Eastern country after more than eight years.
Britain pulled out the majority of its troops in 2009, but had continued to train Iraqis and patrol territorial waters.
A total of 179 British servicemen died in Iraq since the U.S.-led 2003 invasion of Iraq, of which Britain was the second-largest contributor of troops.
The British withdrawal comes months ahead of the deadline for the U.S. withdrawal of forces and its handover of security to the Iraqi government.
