A military court in Russia's North Caucasus region has convicted a former army officer of killing Daghestan's interior minister and sentenced him to a long prison term.
The North Caucasus Regional Military Court sentenced Andrei Rezanov to 15 years in a maximum-security prison.
Rezanov has confessed to killing Adilgirei Magomedtagirov in 2009.
Rezanov was arrested in 2010.
Investigators say he agreed to kill Magomedtagirov for 1.5 million rubles ($45,600) he received from a local criminal group.
Daghestan, along with Russia's other volatile North Caucasus republics, continue to experience violence linked to Islamic extremists and organized criminal groups.
