TBILISI -- Georgia has accused Russia of being behind a series of recent bomb blasts and said it had arrested six people.
The Interior Ministry said six Georgians allegedly recruited by the Russian military were arrested over the weekend and two more are wanted.
They were allegedly recruited by a Russian military intelligence officer in Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia to carry out six blasts, the most recent of which killed one woman. One of the blasts occurred near the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi.
Early in November, Georgia said it had dismantled a Russian-sponsored spy ring, arresting four Russian citizens and nine Georgians. Russia dismissed the case as a "fabrication."
Relations between the two countries remain tense since their August 2008 war over Georgia's other Russian-backed breakaway region of South Ossetia.
