Tehran Says It Has Dismantled Sabotage Network

Iran's Intelligence Ministry says it has dismantled a sabotage and terrorism network linked to Israel and Britain.

In a statement published on its website on June 2, the ministry said its agents had arrested 12 people with links to Israel's secret service, Mossad, and spy rings based on the Indian subcontinent.

The ministry also said it had confiscated a large cache of weapons.

The statement did not reveal the time and place of the operation or the name of the detainees, but did say the cell's leader originated from an unnamed "regional Arab" country.

The statement said the group had been instructed "to conduct terrorist acts ahead of, and in particular, on election day" as well as to create "ethnic and religious divisions" in restive areas of Iran.

Iran's presidential election is scheduled for June 14.
