Two terrorist attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, have left at least 17 people dead and more than 50 injured.
Officials said eight people were killed and 29 injured in a bomb attack in Baghdad's Jadida neighborhood. Some sources said that attack involved a roadside bomb and a suicide bomber.
The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for that attack, saying it was carried out by a man with an explosive vest.
Around the same time, a suicide bomber struck the Bayaa area in southern Baghdad, killing at least nine people and injuring 26.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the Bayaa bombing.
IS has stepped up its campaign against civilian targets in recent months as Iraqi security forces have had success recapturing territory held by the extremist group.
