A protest was held in the Iraqi Kurdish city of Irbil on October 8, calling for international help to save the largely Kurdish Syrian city of Kobani from Islamic State militants. The demonstrators carried portraits of Abdullah Ocalan, the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) leader who is in prison in Turkey, and chanted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was a "fascist." Kobani is on the border with Turkey, and Turkey has been criticized for failing to intervene. (RFE/RL's Radio Free Iraqi)
