A roadside bomb has killed six people and wounded a dozen more in Iraq's southern port city of Basra.
Ali al-Maliki, the head of the Basra provincial council security committee, said the blast had targeted a passing U.S. military convoy, but instead struck a passenger bus carrying ordinary Iraqis.
The victims included women and children, although it is unclear how many were among those killed.
Violence has declined in Iraq since reaching its peak five years ago, but attacks remain common, with nearly 200 people killed as a result of violence in February.
