An opposition journalist and activist from Kazakhstan, Aidos Sadyqov, was shot in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, on June 18 by an unknown assailant. Ukraine's National Police said an unknown person shot a man in a parked vehicle and fled the scene. The activist's wife, Natalya Sadyqova, who was in the car with him at the time of the attack, told journalists close to the scene of the crime that it's unclear whether her husband will survive and that the attack was related to their journalistic activities critical of the Kazakh government.
