Six Pakistani security troops were killed in an explosion and exchange of gunfire with militants on June 9 at a security post near Sultan Khel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, an official said on condition of anonymity. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack. The government and the military have been carrying out operations in the area as part of a pledge to eradicate terrorism.
