At Least Two Soldiers Killed In Shootout In Northwestern Pakistan

At least two Pakistani soldiers were killed and two others injured in an exchange of fire with militants in northwestern Pakistan, police told RFE/RL’s Radio Mashaal.

Militants attacked military and police forces accompanying a survey team in the flood-affected area in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Dera Ismail Khan district late on October 28, police official Attaullah Inaam told RFE/RL.

“It is a mountainous area and a search operation for militants is ongoing,” Inaam said.

The attack was claimed by the banned Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

A day earlier, one soldier was killed and three others injured in the South Waziristan tribal district. The attack was also claimed by the TTP.
