'Nobody Protected Us': Locals In Russia's Kursk Region Face Uncertainty Under Ukrainian Control

Three weeks after Ukrainian troops made a surprise incursion into Russian territory, locals in the Kursk region shared their anger over the unexpected turn that brought the war to their homes. On a visit to the Russian border town of Sudzha organized by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, RFE/RL journalists spoke to residents who are divided on whether to remain in a home region under foreign control.
