Muscovites shared their concerns about the falling ruble on December 16, as the Russian currency hit historic lows of nearly 80 to the dollar before partially recovering later. The collapse came despite the central bank hiking its key interest rate to 17 percent the previous day. Central bank deputy head Sergei Shvetsov said the situation was critical.
