An alleged militant for the Islamic State (IS) group has been detained in Russia's Tatarstan region.
The Federal Security Service said on September 21 that Sharifbek Shoyev, 38, is suspected of spending about three years in Syria, where he allegedly received training in terrorist camps.
He is also accused of fighting alongside IS militants.
Shoyev is facing up to 10 years in jail if he is found guilty of "taking part in the activities of an illegal armed group abroad."
Shoyev has been transferred to the city of his registered permanent residence, Yekaterinburg.
Officials have said at least 5,000 Russians and citizens of other ex-Soviet republics have traveled to Syria and Iraq to join IS fighters.
