Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev dismissed the new U.S. sanctions against Moscow as "evil" and ineffective. Speaking at a government meeting July 17, Medvedev said similar measures "have never brought anyone to their knees" and called the new round of sanctions targeting Russia's major banks and energy companies "illegal."
