A Moscow court on July 23 sentenced writer and former chief editor of TV Dozhd, Mikhail Zygar, on a charge of distributing false information about Russia's military. The charge stemmed from Zygar's online posts about alleged atrocities committed by Russian armed forces against Ukrainian civilians in the town of Bucha near Kyiv in 2022. Zygar, who left Russia in 2022, has condemned the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine in his video blogs.
