Four Suspected Militants Killed In Daghestan Raid

The authorities say four suspected militants were killed in a raid in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Daghestan.

The National Counterterrorism Committee said three officers from the Federal Security Service were wounded as the rebels tried to break out of a house in the town of Khasavyurt where they had been surrounded by security forces.

In a separate attack late on January 4, a policeman was killed when the passengers of a car opened fire during a security check in the regional capital of Makhachkala.

A suspected militant inside the car was also killed when police returned fire.
