A Russian Soyuz spacecraft with a crew of three men has blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
Russian pilot Roman Romanenko, American Thomas Marshburn, and the Canadian Space Agency’s Chris Hadfield are onboard the spaceship.
They are expected to arrive at the ISS on December 21.
Reports say they will to stay at the space station for the next five months, carrying out two spacewalks and working on experiments in the orbiting laboratory.
The Russian research program during the mission includes 37 experiments.
