Evgeniy Maloletka's photograph of a fatally wounded pregnant woman on a stretcher drove home the horror of Russia’s brutal assault on Mariupol.

Associated Press photographer Evgeniy Maloletka has won the World Press Photo of the year for his harrowing image of emergency workers carrying a pregnant woman through the shattered grounds of a maternity hospital in the city of Mariupol, in the chaotic aftermath of a Russian attack. The 32-year-old woman died of her injuries half an hour after giving birth to a lifeless baby. To read the original story by Reuters, click here.
